Some of you may have known about (or even entered) the "Meet Michael Owen" competition on liverpoolfc.tv in September 2004. Well, as a HUGE Owen fan, of course I entered. Now, I am not the luckiest of people out there, so getting anywhere in the competition didn't even enter my head. But as it is my dream to meet Michael, I knew I had to enter it! Well, the closing date was the 17th September 2004. I remember this perfectly as it was the day after my Birthday. So for the few days that followed I checked my e-mail address regularly for any e-mail that may let me know that possibly  the waiting was over and I was finally going to meet my idol. Disappointingly though, I received no such e-mail. But to be honest, I wasn't too surprised.

A few days after the closing date, I was checking one of my other e-mail address', I don't get much mail to this address, but I check it often to delete junk mail. Any-hoo, I was looking thorugh my e-mails, and one e-mail grabbed my attention. The subject of the e-mail was "Congratulations", I don't know why I decided to open this e-mail as I just assumed it was junk mail and I was just about to delete it. Wow! I was so thankful I didn't!

I proceeded to read the e-mail and I couldn't believe what I was reading. It read" Congratulations! You are a runner-up in liverpoolfc.tv's "Meet Michael Owen competition" You have won a large poster of Michael's book and a signed postcard!"

I know it wasn't the main prize, but I started shouting! You see, I have been writing to Michael for 8 years now and never received a reply, so finally having an autograph from my idol was a big deal for me. The poster is great too, and now takes pride of place on my bedroom door!

So, I am still hoping that maybe I will get lucky one day and get to meet him, even have a reply to my letters. But at least I was lucky enough to win something!
