The Beginning

The original King of the Kop website first went live in June 2000. I had always wanted to create a website about Michael Owen and for Owen fans all over the world. Being an Owen fan for so many years myself, I felt I wanted to give something back to Michael. So, for a assignment for my IT course I had to create a website. Of course I already knew the subject of my site, so I got to work. The original website (for any of you who ever visited it) was very amateurish, this was because I had no experience or knowledge whatsoever of planning, creating and building a website. Also, it had to be completed rather quickly as I had a strict time scale. Unfortunately, the website kind of took a back seat for quite a while.

www.kingofthekop.org existed for 11 months. I was so overwhelmed by the popularity of the site and the kind messages from the visitors that I was shocked! I desperately wanted the site to be popular, but I hadn't expected it to be as popular as it was!

Michael Owen Online

In August 2004, Michael of course moved to Real Madrid. It never entered my head at that point to change the name of the site, as Michael would always be the "King of the Kop" to me, and of course many other fans, but the name became outdated. I then decided on the name of Michael Owen Online as that way it would remain fresh and up-to-date.

In December 2005 we were contacted by the team in charge of creating Michael's official website, www.michaelowenofficial.com and to acknowledge the work we have been doing at Michael Owen Online over the past 2 years, we were given the very prestigious title of OFFICIAL Fan Site. Michael Owen Online is in contact with the official site team to keep all fans and visitors up to date on what is happening in the world of "Owen"
